I attended Mary Kay Leadership in San Diego with my wife Mary Ann back in January of this year. A combination of good business timing and a recently empty nest allowed us to travel to San Diego together. With the help of a reasonably priced Air B&B, we were able to stay a few extra days before and after the conference to enjoy more of San Diego.
MK Leadership is a conference for sales directors only. It’s a smaller group of people than the tens of thousands that travel to Dallas every summer. Conference sessions are talks by national sales directors and those retiring. Topics focus on, you guessed it, leadership and working with people. These topics are not industry-specific and I learned a good deal.
A client was surprised to hear that I had attended a Mary Kay conference. She expected it to be all about selling makeup and lipstick. I explained to her that selling and leadership lessons are timeless no matter the industry.
